News Brief:

COMDESRON THIRTY TWO destroyers left Bermuda today enroute Rota Spain, which will be their new homeport . USS Sterret and USS Gridley Left their island stop over at approximately 2:30 PM. The diminutive squadron packs a powerful punch with dozens of surface to surface missiles, guns and hundreds of surface to air missile all under the control of the Aegis system. They also pose a serious threat to submarines with their sensitive towed arrays and lethal torpedoes.

These units will be working closely with the Spanish Navy to conduct search and rescue operations for the thousands of emigrants from North Africa as well as providing tactical support to the Spanish Navy where their assistance is desired..

In a brief interview with US Defense Secretary Maggie No Body she stated that this was a clear signal to armed rebels in the area that the US would not put up with piratical practices similar to recent events along the west coast of Africa. "These ships will defend US and Spanish merchant vessels in agreement with the Spanish government.".

In other news - the Russian Navy has deployed a carrier task force into the Mediterranean ostensibly for similar missions. There has been no comment from the Kremlin on this provocative move.
